Amanda & Josh | Sweet Southern Wedding

I am so excited to share this very special wedding! My big sister got married to the love of her life, and not only did I get to photograph her day, but I also got to be one of her bridesmaids. This was possible with the amazing second shooting help from my dad and Ryan – and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Amanda and Josh’s wedding took place at The Acre, Orlando – an amazing outdoor venue with beautiful grounds and architecture. Elements like yard games during cocktail hour, a cozy bonfire, a delicious southern BBQ buffet, and dancing under the stars made for such a homey backyard atmosphere. There were so many thoughtful details that made this day personal and special. Some of these details involve a barber’s chair, Star Wars, and a surprise twist ending to the mother-son dance! 🙂 Amanda and Josh share about these details and more below. Oh, and fair warning, you’re probably going to need some tissues when you read what Josh wrote about when he first saw his bride.

Amanda!! You’re outrageously beautiful and made a STUNNING bride!!

From Josh:  “Hector has been a huge part of my life. We met in church years ago and grew together over the years. We nearly started a band together. He is one of my best friends. He went through barber school and is working, doing what he loves. There have been several big moments in my life the past few years that he has been apart of. My engagement to Amanda, my full time interview, even my wedding. Hector has blessed me with a hair cut for each event. He asked me if he could give me a shave for the wedding. I loved the idea. The idea of one of my best friends helping me with the finishing touches. To give me a final blessing before the wedding. To me, it’s like a kiss on the head. It’s an intimate way of him preparing me for my bride. It brings me to tears just thinking about it. I love Hector so much and he is one of my best friends.”

How cool are these Star Wars socks?! The meaning behind them makes them even cooler!

From Josh: “Most of my friends and I have a huge love for Star Wars. My brother and I grew up watching it, and loving every aspect of that universe. Amanda shares that love for those movies and stories and one of my groomsmen got the idea to do star wars socks. Me as Darth Vader, the groomsmen as Stormtroopers, and my best man, my brother, as Boba Fett.”

From Josh: “A moment that I am going to remember for the rest of my life is watching my bride walk down the aisle. I saw the white dress and lost it. My hands didn’t know what to do. I was trembling, crying, and taken aback at how beautiful she was. That dress, the make up, the hair, all of it was for me. And, like always, she was stunning. So much so that it took my breath away.”

From Amanda: “I will always fondly remember both of my dads walking me down the aisle together. And one of my most emotional memories will always be walking down the aisle to Josh and almost losing it because I see him crying.”

Amanda and Josh had the sweetest first dance to Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World”.

Josh’s first dance with his mom had a surprise transition from a sweet heart felt song, to a meaningful and fun childhood favorite – “Get Over It”. He recalls, “My mom and I would listen and dance to that song over, and over again. Dancing, spinning, flailing around the living room like no one was watching.”

Congratulations Amanda and Josh!! I’m so happy to welcome Josh to our family! Wishing you both every happiness! I love you guys!  XOXO
